Data Collected by the Site & Purpose
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the Site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
Akismet also collects information about visitors who comment on this Site, which uses the Akismet anti-spam service to prevent bots and spammers from polluting the comments. The information Akismet collects typically includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the Site, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the Site can download and extract any location data from images on the Site.

Cookies
If you leave a comment on the Site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to the Site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Newsletters
You may subscribe to our email newsletter, which may be used for advertising purposes. The emails that we send to newsletter subscribers may contain embedded tracking pixels, which will allow us to analyze the success of our Site and email marketing campaigns. These tracking pixels allow us to see if and when you open an email and which links within the email you click. The tracking also allows us to adapt the content of future emails to your interests.
Google Analytics
In order to improve the functionality of the Site and make sure that the content remains relevant to our readers, we use Google Analytics, a web analysis tool from Google. Google Analytics uses cookies that track your preferences during your visit to our websites. The data generated by these cookies are usually transferred to, and stored on a server in, the United States.

Affiliate Networks
In order for referral fees and commissions to be paid by third-party sellers to us, we work with affiliate networks and other ad networks that manage the relationships between us and these sellers. When you click on an affiliate link that routes through an affiliate network, we attach a unique identifier number and the affiliate network uses its own cookie.
This process ensures that your click passes to the appropriate affiliate network, so that the affiliate network can track whether you make a purchase on the third-party website that you visit. The income that we receive when you make a purchase helps us to cover the costs of running the site, as further described in our Affiliate Disclosure.
We do not control the cookies dropped by affiliate networks. For more information, please check the privacy policies of our partner networks:
Amazon Affiliate
This Site is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for me to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites. As part of this Amazon Associates program, we will post customized links to track the referrals to Amazon.
These links trigger the use of cookies to track visits for the purposes of assigning commission on products that you purchase from Amazon after clicking the links. As an Amazon Associate, we earn money when you click a link in one of our posts or pages to Amazon and make a purchase on the local Amazon site. We do not control Amazon’s tracking or other privacy behaviors, which may include ad personalization, retargeting, and other advanced tracking features that are intended to optimize your experience and show you more relevant products. For more information about Amazon’s privacy policies and practices, see:
